EARTHQUAKESMajor Earthquakes for 60s and 70s. In the map have plotted the major earthquakes for the 60s and 70s. The major earthquake areas are in the area around the Pacific Ocean. Most of the earthquakes happened at these areas and for this reason they call it "Pacific Ring of Fire". Earthquakes may occur anywhere, even in the middle of very stable continental areas. Most of the earthquakes take place at the ridge of pacific plate that are the Eurasian plate, Philippine plate, Bismark plate, and Caroline plate. Most of the earthquakes occurred at 70s than 60s. In this decade (70s) a lot of earthquakes happened almost at the same point. With these results we can figure it out that a lot of earthquakes are going to follow at these areas. Some of these areas that consider them self major earthquakes areas are the Solomon islands, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Fiji, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Equator and Peru. Especially at the Fuji, Solomon Islands, Japan, Philippines and Equator a lot of major earthquakes occurred at these areas. In these areas we have a lot of major earthquakes because the types of the boundaries is convergent. This means the places are coming together and through these process a lot of earthquakes hit these areas. Beside the Pacific Ring of Fire there are some others major earthquakes areas that are far away from each other. The different between these two is that the earthquake doesn't occur at the same point or near to this point like the Pacific Ring of Fire. . |
