3 THINGS I'D SAVE FROM A FIREWhat was that noise that woke me from sleeping? I catch the distinct scent of smoke and follow the smell to the kitchen, where I find that the coffee maker has exploded. The fire is spreading fast, swiftly crawling and swirling up the thick curtains and wood paneling in our kitchen. I know there is not much time before the whole house goes up in flames. I decide to save my boyfriend who is asleep on the couch, my CD collection, and my shoebox full of pictures. First, I would save my boyfriend Daniel from the fire. I have been going out with him for a couple of months and he is too sweet to compare with cotton candy. He lives in Austin but he drives to Lindale, where I live, and stays the weekends with me. Once, when I was having a bad day, my brother ate all of my cookies and cream ice cream, which I consider my savior from depression. Daniel was talking to me on the phone at this time and he said he had to take a shower and he would call me back shortly. About thirty minutes later, he was at my door with my ice cream. He had driven all the way into town to buy it for me. Certainly, I would save my boyfriend Daniel from the fire. Next, I would save my CD collection from getting lost in the fire. First of all, I believe that music is important in our lives because it helps us express ourselves. Over the years, I have explored all different types of music and styles of artists and I own many CD's from each category. Not to mention, music can greatly affect my mood by hyping me up, calming me down, or just helping me think about the things on my mind. Clearly, I would save my CD collection from getting lost in the fire. Lastly, I would save my shoebox of pictures from perishing in the fire. The pictures in that box represent so many times in my life, I can just look at a picture and visualize everything that was happening in that time and place. Some are pictures of my car, while others are of my friends and me over the years. I have pictures of myself during the happiest times of my life and also the worst. I'll never forget the people that were always there for me and the ones that hurt me the most. I believe it is experiences that mold us to be the people that we are. Surely, I would save my shoebox of pictures from the fire. In conclusion, I would save my boyfriend Daniel, my CD collection, and my shoebox full of pictures from the fire. I am so relieved I was able to save my boyfriend and my two most prized possessions. As for the rest of my things, two words: homeowners insurance. mandy_lhs@hotmail.com |
